Porsche is focusing on alternative drives in transport logistics. At the Zuffenhausen, Weissach and Leipzig sites, the sports car manufacturer and its freight forwarders are using six new trucks with electric drives. They are mainly from Scania and transport production materials around the plants. They complement an existing fleet of 22 biogas-powered trucks. Another electric car transporter delivers new vehicles from Zuffenhausen to Switzerland. The e-trucks are largely powered by green electricity.
In addition, Porsche has been testing the use of synthetic diesel fuels (HVO100) for some time now under the scientific supervision of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). These so-called re-fuels are being used around the main plant in twelve trucks from the existing fleet. The fuel consists of residual and waste materials. So far, no disadvantages have been identified compared to conventional diesel fuel. In the meantime, the project has covered more than one million kilometers and saved more than 800 tons of CO2. The vehicles are used for shuttle services in the greater Stuttgart area. (aum)
