The first regular races of a first hydrogen off-road racing championship are to run in just two years. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and "Extreme E" (organizer of off-road racing with electric vehicles) have concluded an agreement to this effect in London. Both sides see this document as the first step toward the Extreme H racing series, which is to become an FIA championship in 2025 and an FIA World Championship from 2026.
This would make Extreme H one of the seven other official FIA World Championships, which also includes the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Development of the Extreme H series is in full swing. A first test race is scheduled to start this year. (aum)
