The bestseller becomes the R 1300 GS

BMW is opening a new chapter with its bestseller. Germany's best-selling motorcycle for years and the world's most popular touring enduro becomes the R 1300 GS with a new engine and new chassis. The boxer produces 145 hp (107 kW) at 7750 rpm and delivers 149 Newton meters at 6500 rpm. That's nine hp and six Nm more than its predecessor and BMW's most powerful boxer engine to date. At the same time, the new model is twelve kilograms lighter.

Instead of three, there are now four riding modes in terms of the series. Eco, Rain and Road are joined by Enduro. The new electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) system combines dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with corresponding adjustment of the spring stiffness, depending on the selected riding mode, riding condition and riding maneuvers. On request, the BMW R 1300 GS also comes with all the safety features currently available on two wheels: Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Warning and Front Collision Warning with active brake intervention.

Standard features on the new GS include dynamic traction control, ABS Pro, new matrix LED headlights, heated grips and hand-protected tires with integrated indicators, a smartphone charging compartment with USB socket and additional 12 V on-board power socket. It ranges from cornering lights to heated seats and the aforementioned aissence package.

BMW is asking 19,100 euros for the basic model. The market launch will take place at the beginning of November. (aum)
