One in seven BMWs drives to the customer electrically

The BMW Group sold 93,931 all-electric BMW and Mini vehicles in the third quarter, achieving year-on-year sales growth of +79.6 percent. The BMW brand again doubled deliveries of all-electric vehicles in the third quarter (+100.3 percent).

The BMW Group delivered a total of 621,699 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brand vehicles in the third quarter. This represents an increase of +5.8 percent compared with the same period last year. From January to September, BMW Group sales rose to 1,836,563 units (+5.1 percent). The company expects solid growth in deliveries for the year as a whole. Fully electric models are expected to account for 15 percent of total vehicle sales in 2023.

The BMW brand delivered 549,941 vehicles worldwide in the third quarter, achieving growth of +6.2 percent year-on-year. The brand is seeing particularly strong demand for all-electric vehicles. In the third quarter, BEV deliveries doubled again year-on-year to 83,211 units (+100.3 percent). From January to September, 217,138 fully electric BMW brand vehicles were delivered to customers.

With 48,978 units sold worldwide in the third quarter, representing a year-on-year sales increase of +13.2 percent, BMW M once again demonstrated its strength in the profitable High Performance and Performance segment.
The Mini brand delivered 70,384 (+2.6 percent) vehicles to customers worldwide in the third quarter. Between July and September, Mini sold 10,720 all-electric Mini Cooper SE and Mini Cooper SE Convertible (-0.4 percent).

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars sold 1374 vehicles in the third quarter (-9.0 percent). This result is in line with expectations, as Dawn and Wraith production was halted in the second quarter as production is prepared for the Rolls-Royce Spectre. Interest in the all-electric supercoupé remains exceptionally high, with orders on hand already extending to 2025. Of the classic models, 4555 vehicles (-3.1 percent) have been sold since the beginning of the year.

BMW Motorrad handed over 52,037 (+0.5 percent) motorcycles and scooters into customer hands from July to September in the year of its 100th anniversary. As the world's most successful premium motorcycle, the retread Boxer GS will provide a major boost to BMW Motorrad sales.

In China, the BMW Group sold 210,331 BMW and Mini brand vehicles in the third quarter (-1.8 percent).

In the USA, 91,849 BMW and Mini brand vehicles were delivered between July and September this year. This corresponds to growth of +7.8 percent.

Sales in Europe totaled 221,496 BMW and Mini brand vehicles in the third quarter (+12.9 percent).

In Germany, 70,901 BMW and Mini brand vehicles were registered during this period. (aum)
