Volta Trucks goes into a tailspin

Volta Trucks is floundering. The company cited the insolvency of its battery supplier Proterra as the reason for the uncertain future. This currently makes reliable planning for the production of the uVolta Zero electric truck impossible. The Swedish company therefore intends to file for insolvency itself. Whether things will continue after that remains open.

In spring, Volta Trucks announced that it would have 300 pre-ordered 16-ton trucks built by a contract manufacturer at the former Austrian MAN plant in Steyr this year. A service center has also been moved into Duisburg. DB Schenker is said to have expressed interest in around 1500 vehicles in advance. The Volta Zero is characterized by its low cab with a centered driver's seat and 220-degree visibility. (aum)
