Dakar 2024: Toyota opts for two new driver teams

With the further improved GR DKR Hilux T1+ and two new driver teams, Toyota is preparing to defend its title at the 2024 Dakar Rally (January 5-19). Brazilian Lucas Moraes is one of the fastest young W2RC drivers: in addition to two victories in the Rally dos Sertoes and the triple Brazilian championship, he finished third overall in his Dakar debut this year. He will be supported by former motorcyclist Armand Monleón as co-driver in 2024. The second Hilux DKR will be driven by American Seth Quintero, who took twelve stage wins in a lightweight prototype at the 2022 Dakar Rally. At his side is German Dennis Zenz: together, the duo recently secured the title of World Rally Raid Champion in the T3 class.

Both duos are now starting their final preparations: while Quintero and Zenz are competing at the Dubai International Baja this weekend, Moraes and Monleón will start at the Baja Qassim in Saudi Arabia on the last weekend of November. (aum)
