The Renault Master becomes a "multi-energy aerovan"

Renault has unveiled the fourth generation of the Master and is boldly promoting the van as a "multi-energy aerovan". The fact is that the new edition is somewhat more streamlined and has a more flexible platform, which is also designed for later use with a fuel cell drive. Nevertheless, the Master remains recognizable as a Master.

Four diesel engines with 105 hp (77 kW) to 170 hp (125 kW) as well as two electric variants with 96 kW (130 hp) and 105 kW (143 hp) and two different battery sizes for a range of up to 410 kilometers will be available at the market launch in spring. Customers can choose between front and rear-wheel drive.

Thanks to a shorter hood and flatter windscreen as well as a new roofline and narrower rear end, the drag index is over 20 percent lower than that of the previous model. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the diesel-powered versions have been reduced by an average of 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers and 39 grams per kilometer. The energy consumption of the electric versions has also improved by 20 percent compared to the previous Master E-Tech Electric.

According to Renault, the cockpit of the new Master is based on passenger car standards and also integrates Google functions. The interior offers 135 liters of storage space, more than any other van in the segment. Up to 20 assistance systems are also on board. The battery-electric Master also has Vehicle-2-X functions for connecting external devices.

The loading area is ten centimetres longer than its predecessor and the side opening is four centimetres wider. Depending on the body variant, eleven to 22 cubic meters of transport capacity are available. The shortened wheelbase is intended to improve manoeuvrability, especially in city traffic. (aum)
