The Nine T becomes the R 12 and beginner-friendly

Ten years ago, BMW gave itself a present with the R Nine T to mark its 90th anniversary as a motorcycle manufacturer. The new edition is now being launched for the 100th anniversary. The engine and performance have not changed, but the frame, chassis and name have. In future, the Roadster R 12 will be called Nine T. There is a new airbox under the seat and the USD fork is fully adjustable. The Nine T now reaches its peak power 250 rpm earlier. There will also be a 95 hp version in future, simply called the R 12, but it will also be available as a 48 hp version for beginners.

The tubular lattice frame is a completely new design, which is now in one piece instead of two. This saves weight. The rear frame, also made of tubular steel, is bolted to the main frame. The slightly narrower and shorter aluminum tank is intended to improve ergonomics. The series also comes with new classic round instruments as well as a USB-C and twelve-volt socket. A digital display is available ex works as an optional extra. The R 12 does not have a rev counter, but it can be retrofitted as an original accessory.

The new model generation is even more visually oriented towards classic models from the brand's history. The market launch is in spring. The Nine T costs 17,410 euros, the R 12 is almost 3000 euros cheaper. (aum)
