Toyotas including people mover for Paris 2024

As the global mobility partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Toyota has unveiled two inclusive mobility solutions for Paris 2024. The Accessible People Mover (APM) and the "e-Puller" for wheelchairs will provide sustainable and safe transportation for athletes, officials and spectators with physical limitations or walking disabilities, including wheelchair users, during the Olympic Games.

The APM (Accessible People Mover) is a fully electric people mover for the so-called last mile. During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Toyota plans to deploy 250 of these zero-emission vehicles with a range of 100 kilometers. The 20 km/h cabin scooter is also intended for the transportation of smaller goods during the Games or as emergency assistance. The APM was developed in Belgium by Toyota Motor Europe (TME) and is to be produced in Portugal from February 2024.

Toyota has also teamed up with mobility start-up Klaxon to develop the "e-Puller", which transforms a classic wheelchair into a battery-powered mobility solution. The Austrian company specializes in the development of aids for wheelchair users. At the Games in Paris, 50 of these 6-8 km/h drive modules will be available in the Paralympic Village, which can be booked via the KINTO Mobility app and used within the village. A further 150 units, throttled down to 3-4 km/h, will be used by athletes and officials at the Paralympic opening ceremony. (aum)
