The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has awarded the FIA Heritage Cup to The Loh Collection National Automobile Museum at its annual general meeting in Baku (Azerbaijan). The challenge cup, which honors exceptional and outstanding efforts in the field of historic vehicles year after year, was awarded to the museum, which opened just a few months ago in Dietzhölztal, Hesse, by the Founding Members' Club (FMC), consisting of the 13 founding clubs of the FIA.
The FIA Heritage Cup is considered a "knighthood" within the classic car scene. Award winners include the Louwman Museum in The Hague (NL) and renowned events such as the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (GB), the Mille Miglia (I), the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix (D), the Targa Florio (I) and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (USA).
This year's nomination of the National Automobile Museum for the competition was made by the Automobile Club of Germany (AvD), which produced its own two-and-a-half-minute video tour (https://youtu.be/D5qoN3CmGpU) of the museum's exhibition for the application. The award for the National Automobile Museum The Loh Collection was accepted last Friday evening by the Executive Director Marketing & PR, Florian Urbitsch, and the museum's curator, Tobias Reichle, from the hands of FMC President Ludwig Fürst zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg. The long-standing President of the AvD was only elected as the FMC's highest representative in October. (aum)
