Triumph 660 becomes a trio
A good three years after the premiere of the Trident and two years after the Tiger Sport 660, Triumph is expanding its mid-range series. It becomes a trio with the Daytona 660. With the new super sports bike, the British company is continuing the tradition of the Daytona 675 from 2006. The new model is more than just a derivative of the Trident. In keeping with its sporting aspirations, the Daytona offers higher performance.
The three-cylinder engine, which has been extensively revised in many areas with a new exhaust system, delivers 95 hp instead of 80 hp and, with 69 Newton meters, develops nine percent more torque than the Trident and Tiger Sport. Maximum power is reached at 11,250 rpm, the red zone starts at 12,600 rpm. More than 80 percent of the maximum torque is available from just over 3100 rpm.
Among other things, the Daytona 660 has three riding modes and an emergency brake warning light as well as traction control that can be switched off. The standard seat height is 810 millimetres. A conversion kit is also available for A2 license holders.
The Triumph Daytona 660 will be available from the end of March at a price of 9795 euros (plus dealer-dependent delivery costs).
Triumph has sold over 40,000 units of its mid-range motorcycle in the past three years, not least attracting new customers. Women and younger riders in particular have been won over to the brand. (aum)
