Frame breakages: Sales stop for Babboe cargo bikes

Due to considerable safety risks, the Dutch consumer protection authority has banned the sale of cargo bikes from the manufacturer Babboe on the domestic market. This was reported by Spiegel online and other media. The Dutch company is said to have voluntarily stopped sales in Germany as a result. The German Cyclists' Federation (ADFC) advises Babboe owners to stop using the bikes. Babboe wants to inform all affected customers and is preparing a recall campaign according to its own information.

As far as is known, eight models are involved in which frame breakages can occur. The Dutch authorities accuse the company of failing to report the incidents properly. The bicycle manufacturer had already acknowledged frame problems with the City model in August 2019. Babboe cargo bikes are particularly popular with families. (aum)
