Fiat is modernizing the Panda and launching the Pandina on the market this summer. The nickname, which is common in Italy for the small car that has been built eight million times in four decades, is intended to be "the most advanced and safest Panda" of all time, according to Fiat boss Olivier Francois. The developers chose the Panda Cross as the basis and upgraded the model with the latest safety features. In addition to six airbags, emergency braking and lane departure warning systems, these include drowsiness warning, traffic sign recognition and cruise control.
The Pandina is powered by the familiar one-liter three-cylinder engine (70 hp/51 kW) with mild hybrid technology. The price of the modernized Panda is not yet known. The price list for the Panda currently starts at 13,990 euros. (aum)
