Renault Scenic now only as an electric car

In 1996, it made automotive history as the first successful compact van on the European market. Since then, 28 years have passed and numerous model generations of the Scenic have passed through the hands of Renault dealers. The car has also mutated from a van to a crossover. Until recently, the Scenic was still available as a combustion model with a petrol or diesel engine, but from June only the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric will be available as a fully electric version with a battery: with 125 kW (170 PS) and 160 kW (218 PS). For both, battery capacities of either 60 kWh for a maximum range of 430 kilometers or 87 kWh for a range of 625 kilometers (both according to WLTP) are available. The price range of the five different equipment versions is between 41,400 euros and 52,100 euros

Just like its first edition in 1986, the newcomer of the year 2024 was also named "Car of the Year" in Europe. It probably earned the title first and foremost thanks to its extensive range of safety, comfort and driver support features, which came as standard even in the basic version. Another decisive factor was probably its simultaneous suitability as an agile city car and as a comfortable touring sedan with generous space. Its speed at a DC fast charging station is also good. The smaller 60 kWh battery takes 32 minutes to charge from 15 to 80 percent, the larger 87 kWh battery 37 minutes.

The first test drives on country roads and highways around Marbella in the south of Spain showed that the new Renault Scenic has rightly received its award. The car is not only a good choice as a family car for everyday use, leisure and travel. It is also not short on driving pleasure - even if the fun doesn't come cheap. But that's normal given the price of battery-powered electric cars. (aum)
