Start of the motorhome season: buy or rent?

Temperatures are rising, nature is turning green. Unmistakable signs that the season for traveling by motorhome has begun. For many, however, the question arises as to whether a purchase is worthwhile or whether a mobile vacation in a rented motorhome should be tried out first. The german information platform Camperdays.de has calculated that with the current average purchase price of 75,000 euros plus ancillary costs, the vehicle must be used for at least 67 days a year to pay for itself compared to a rented camper.

Although the Camperdays estimators have set the additional costs relatively high, the same applies to the estimated weekly rent. However, if you look out for special offers, you can reduce this item considerably. Hannes Camper, for example, is now bringing 40 new campervans from the Viica series presented at the CMT to its 13 rental stations and is offering them for rent over Easter for the travel period until April 7, 2024 for 630 euros per week. This includes the usual service fee and 1750 free kilometers. (aum)
