Restructuring is his specialty: Carlos Tavares started at PSA ten years ago

Ten years ago, the Portuguese Carlos Tavares took over the management of the badly ailing PSA Group (Peugeot/Citroën), which was on the verge of collapse. Tavares restructured the company and then went on a shopping spree. In 2017, he took over Opel/Vauxhall from General Motors and brought the company back into the black. The next coup followed just two years later, when he succeeded in merging the US FCA Group with PSA. The result is Stellantis. The group comprises 14 brands in Europe and the USA and grew to become one of the most profitable companies under his leadership. (aum)
