DS automates electric driving in low emission zones

Some European cities have now set up environmental zones in which driving is sometimes only permitted with an electric drive. DS Automobiles is now using geofencing technology to help comply with these regulations. DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9 with plug-in hybrid drive equipped with the DS Iris multimedia system automatically switch off the combustion engine as soon as the car enters an environmental zone with corresponding regulations.

Based on the data from the navigation system, a warning is first displayed when approaching an environmental zone. When entering the defined zone, electric mode is then automatically selected - provided, of course, that the vehicle's battery charge level allows it.

If this is not the case, and for all models with conventional combustion engines - including mild hybrids - passive geofencing mode is activated. In this case, the system only issues a warning and suggests an alternative route that avoids the affected area. The geofencing service is included in the Connect Plus package and is free of charge for the first three years after purchase. (aum)
