Lexus UX 300h: New inner values

After six years, Lexus is launching the UX with a thoroughly revised design. With the exception of an enlarged logo on the front end, the design has remained unchanged. The most important changes concern the hybrid drive, which combines a two-liter four-cylinder engine with increased electric assistance. This increases the system output from 184 hp (135 kW) to 199 hp (146 kW), and the UX 250h now mutates into the UX 300h.

For fans of all-wheel drive, the Lexus developers have coupled a second electric motor to the rear axle. The permament magnet motor delivers 30 kW (41 hp), which is almost six times more power than its predecessor. Its torque also increases significantly to 84 Newton meters (previously 55 Nm). The rear motor also works as a generator for the regenerative braking system.

The "Safety System +" has also been revised. The pre-crash system now detects pedestrians and motorcycles as well as cars. At the same time, a crossing assistant has been integrated. An emergency steering assistant supports the driver in avoiding obstacles. The adaptive cruise control has a new function and now also adjusts the speed before and on bends. A new "driver monitor" on the steering wheel recognizes when a driver is tired or unfit to drive. If there is no response to the warning signals, the UX 300h is braked and the vehicle is brought to a standstill. Safe Exit Assist prevents so-called dooring accidents by preventing the doors from unlocking in the event of an imminent collision.

The price list starts at 43,700 euros for the front-wheel drive model and 60,900 euros for the all-wheel drive model. (aum)
