PICTURES MISSING Ferrari calls the successor simply 12Cilindri

The successor to the Ferrari 812, which the sports car manufacturer from Maranello has now unveiled, is simply called the 12Cilindri. The V12 engine of the new model delivers a powerful 830 hp (611 kW) at 9500 rpm. 80 percent of the maximum torque is already available at 2500 rpm. The peak torque is 678 Newton meters at 7250 rpm. It is still a naturally aspirated engine. It is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Formally, the 4.73-meter-long coupé is clearly based on the 365 Daytona.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri has all-wheel steering, which was first introduced in the 812 Competizione. The two-seater rests on an all-aluminum chassis and is capable of speeds in excess of 340 km/h. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and only takes another five seconds to reach 200 km/h. Two extendable flaps at the rear ensure maximum downforce at top speed.

The cockpit with the capacitive steering wheel consists of three screens: One each in front of the driver and front passenger in 15.6-inch and 8.8-inch formats, as well as a 10.25-inch touchscreen in the center. Sustainable materials are often used for the interior trim, such as Alcantara, which is made from 65 percent recycled polyester. The roof of the 12Cilindri is made of tinted glass. A Burmester audio system with 15 loudspeakers and 1600 watts of music output is available as an option.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri will cost just under 400,000 euros, and there will also be an open Spider version. This is likely to cost a good ten percent more. (aum)
