Caravan Salon 2023: Sleeping comfort on six meters

Lengthwise beds in a six-meter van? Squaring this circle is the fine art of floor planning. At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Karmann Mobil is presenting the new Davis 600, which, with a length of 5.99 meters, offers precisely this comfortable solution without losing its suitability for everyday use. 58,600 euros is the price of the camping van based on the Fiat Ducato.

Characteristic features are the two single beds in the rear, which has a lying area of 2.03 meters on the passenger side and 1.75 meters on the driver's side for those seeking peace and quiet. Both beds can be folded up to create a large storage space in the rear. In the washroom, space is optimally utilized thanks to a folding washbasin and is sufficient for both toilet use and showering. The classic half-dinette in the front living area, combined with the swiveling cab seats, allows for four-person dinners. Optionally, the Davis 600 can also be equipped with a pop-up roof with double bed, then the sleeping capacity increases to four.

The compact kitchen unit is equipped with a two-burner gas stove, sink, and upper and lower cabinets. The refrigerator with stop on both sides is positioned in the entrance, so cool drinks can also be taken from the outside. The interior is characterized by a textile microfiber look on the furniture fronts and cabinets. The fabric structure gives the camper van a stylish homeliness and at the same time
and at the same time sets fresh accents.

The basic model is powered by a 2.3-liter diesel engine with 120 hp (88 kW) mated to a six-speed manual transmission. However, this version is not available with an automatic transmission. That is only available in conjunction with the more powerful diesel with 140 hp (103 kW), which is offered in the optional "Concept" package for around 4000 euros extra. (aum/mk)
