Once around the world with the electric car

Lexie Alford has set off on the first round-the-world trip in an electric car with a Ford Explorer. The influencer, who specializes in adventure, wants to cover more than 28,000 kilometers and prove on her journey through all six continents that the range and charging infrastructure are already sufficient for this today. In doing so, Lexie Alford is following in the footsteps of Aloha Wanderwell, who became the first woman to successfully circumnavigate the globe in a Ford Model T in 1920. Like her role model, she therefore chose Nice as the starting point for her record attempt and also a Ford.

The Explorer comes from a pre-series production run at the Cologne Electric Vehicle Center in Cologne. The vehicle already largely corresponds to the series model that will be available from summer next year.

Even though the itinerary of Aloha Wanderwell serves as inspiration,
inspiration, Lexie Alford is taking her own route for her long-distance journey. To set the record, the Ford Explorer must travel at least
28,968 kilometers and pass through two antipodean points - places that
are exactly opposite each other on the globe. The journey must end where it began. (aum)
