Yamaha presents the new WR 450 F

As a competition enduro Yamaha has presented the WR 450 F for the coming season. It is based on the motocross model YZ 450 F and, compared to the previous generation, primarily receives a completely new, lighter and more powerful engine, a finer injection mapping and a larger tank with a lower seat height and lower weight. The handlebars move a little closer to the rider.

The new frame has the same basic construction as that of the YZ, but has been specifically adapted to the requirements of enduro racing and cross-country riding. The also completely new bodywork of the WR 450 F builds five centimeters narrower than before. The new front fender provides better airflow to the radiators and the rear fender has a contoured underside that makes it easier for the rider to lift the bike onto the mounting stand. The telescopic fork has a new mechanism for adjusting compression damping by hand, allowing tool-free suspension tuning.

The revamped "Power Tuner" app has gained a "Quick Tuning" feature that allows riders to select any engine setting from "Smooth" to "Aggressive" by tapping a single scroll bar on their smartphone. The Lap Timer feature allows the driver and team to quickly see which settings work best. (aum)
