Production start for new Toyota C-HR in Turkey

Starting signal for the new Toyota C-HR: production of the second model generation has now begun at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) in Sakarya, Turkey. For the new edition of the crossover SUV, the Japanese company has invested a total of 308 million euros in the production facility, which is the first in Europe to also manufacture plug-in hybrid vehicles - including battery assembly, also a first for Toyota in Europe.

The compact SUV coupé has sold more than 800,000 units since its market launch in 2016. The new edition, which was developed and designed in Europe, only features electrified drive systems. In addition to a 103 kW (140 PS) 1.8-liter full hybrid and a 145 kW (198 PS) 2.0-liter hybrid, the latter also available with all-wheel drive on request, a plug-in hybrid with 164 kW (223 PS) system output and a purely electric range of up to 65 kilometers is available for the first time.
