Yamaha expands racing activities

Yamaha is expanding its racing activities in Germany. This applies in particular to the promotion of young talent and the R7 Cup. In addition, the R3 Cup is to be relaunched in 2025. And above all, the brand will continue to be involved in the International German Motorcycle Championship. The cooperation agreement was extended by three years just a few days ago. At the same time, Yamaha Germany has decided to bid farewell to the Twin Cup and Pro Superstock Cup as an official partner and focus more on its own junior series.

In the IDM Supersport class, the R6 is still considered the measure of all things. Yamaha will support four promising talents in the coming season, who could then make it into the Supersport World Championship, the EWC Endurance World Championship or the IDM Superbike.

In the premier class of German motorcycle racing, the IDM Superbike, things have not yet gone quite so smoothly for the R1. Yamaha therefore wants to collect data for the further development of the IDM version next year in order to then aim for the title in 2025. At least two new IDM Superbike teams will be relying on the R1 as early as 2024.

With the Blu-Cru program, Yamaha continues to focus on sustainable and long-term promotion of young talent by intensively coaching young talents and accompanying them on their way into international racing series. In the coming season, Yamaha will support and promote eight German-speaking riders in the IDM predicate classes.

The R7 Cup is entering its third season under the new name "Yamalube Yamaha R7 Cup". The number of races in the IDM will increase from five to six plus the opening practice session immediately before the first race. Riders who decide to take part by the end of the year will benefit from an "early bird" offer for the complete package, from the race-ready machine to the rider's equipment. The best riders in the German Cup will once again receive an invitation to the Superfinal at international level.

From 2025, there will once again be an R3 Cup in Germany as part of the Blu-Cru program to support young talent between the ages of 14 and 18. The minimum age for the R7 Cup will then also be lowered to 16 in order to simplify promotion. (aum)
