Yamaha closes the outboard gap
Yamaha is expanding its range of outboards. The newly developed 350hp with 350 hp (257 kW) will form the top end of the V6 portfolio in future. It closes the gap between the 300hp V6 and the XTO 400hp V8. Yamaha is also expanding its Helm Master EX control system.
The 350hp V6 has a displacement of 4.3 liters. It has larger intake and exhaust valves than the 300hp version and has an electronic throttle valve with the diameter of the XTO 450hp V8. The new crankshaft generates more torque at lower engine speeds thanks to a longer stroke.
In the new year, the Helm-Master-EX system is now also compatible with single, four and five-cylinder engines and, as an important new feature, a bow thruster has been integrated: in future, it can also be controlled at variable speed via the joystick. It is now available with an idle lock, which can be used to lock the running outboard motor in the idle position. This function is useful when the engine is idling on the water or when waiting at jetties.
