Fiat Topolino: Five exclusive mice congratulate Mickey Mouse

We can hardly believe it, but the famous cartoon character Mickey Mouse is celebrating his 95th birthday this year. Its creator, the Walt Disney Company, has been around for a hundred years and the former Fiat headquarters in Turin is now just as old, at a century old. The first Fiat 500, which the Italians affectionately called the Topolino (little mouse), rolled off the production line here in Lingotto in 1936. In addition to the popular small car, Mickey Mouse was also nicknamed Topolino in Italy. Now Fiat is taking the three birthdays as an opportunity to say Happy Birthday and congratulate with five unique models of the new Fiat Topolino, even though it is not even on the market yet.

Each of the five Topolino special editions takes up a theme related to the world-famous "cartoon mouse" in a journey through time and features a unique design. While four of the unique models were created by the designers at Fiat's Centro Stile, the fifth model was designed by Giorgio Cavazzano, one of the most famous Disney cartoonists. On his colorfully designed model, Mickey Mouse appears to jump out at you several times while waving and smiling with joy.

Historical, modern, street and abstract.

Another unique Topolino model is dedicated to history and takes up motifs from the legendary Disney short film "Steamboat Willie", in which Mickey Mouse can be recognized as the helmsman of a paddle steamer. The third car, on the other hand, was inspired by modern art and bears the initials of the cartoon character prominently on its bodywork. The abstract paintwork of the fourth Topolino is intended to symbolize the creativity of Walt Disney, while the fifth model takes up the theme of street art. The bodywork, decorated with plenty of graffiti, is intended to emphasize the cheerful, urban side of Mickey Mouse.

At the presentation of the unique Disney models on the roof of the former Fiat factory in Turin, Fiat brand boss and Stellantis marketing director Olivier François emphasized the close friendship between the two companies. "The histories of Fiat and Disney are closely intertwined. Both the Disney icon and the very first Fiat Topolino have inspired art, street art and fashion for decades. So we have much more in common than just a name," said the Frenchman. "What's more, both brands appeal to people who are young at heart, regardless of their age. The new Fiat Topolino will do its part by offering young people electric mobility with a smile. I am proud to present our tribute to Disney with five special Fiat Topolino."

Available to order online

While the Disney models remain exclusive one-offs and will not go on sale, the new Fiat Topolino can now be ordered exclusively online. The all-electric microcar is aimed primarily at teenagers and the young at heart and can be driven with an AM driving license. Technically, the two-seater, which is just 2.53 meters long, is based on the Opel Rocks Electric and the Citroën Ami, which is not available in Germany.

However, the visual appearance of the Topolino is independent and, unlike its twins from the Stellantis Group, the Italian electric dwarf is available in two body variants. It is available either as a two-door closed version or as the Topolino Dolcevita with a roll-top and no doors. However, there is no choice of exterior color, which is always the same, mint green.

The small 5.4 kWh battery has a range of up to 75 kilometers and can be charged in less than four hours at any conventional 230-volt household socket. The maximum speed is limited to 45 km/h.

The price for both the closed Topolino and the open-top Dolcevita variant is 9,890 euros. By comparison, the Opel Rocks Electric starts at 7,990 euros. Alternatively, the Topolino can also be leased for 49 euros per month. The special leasing payment is 1500 euros and the term is 36 months. (aum)
