A real designer car

Hyundai will launch the fifth generation of the Santa Fe in the first half of 2024. The SUV has evolved into a real designer car. Despite its angular, cubic shape, the 4.83-metre-long Hyundai offers a low Cd value of 0.29. There will be different versions, some of which emphasize the classy, others the off-road character.

The new Santa Fe also goes its own way in the interior. The steering wheel emphasizes the vertical and plays with a one-spoke look. The H motif of the exterior lighting elements is also reflected in the interior. Clever details such as recessed handles in the C-pillar to make it easier to reach the roof luggage or the curved charging tray, which does not interfere with smartphones with protruding camera lenses, are striking.

The Santa Fe is only coming to Europe with hybrid drives based on the 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine. Subjectively, they cope well with the SUV's considerable weight, namely 2.2 tons for the full hybrid and 2.3 tons for the plug-in hybrid. However, the acceleration - 9.5 and 9.1 seconds respectively for the standard sprint - is hardly impressive, as is the top speed, which is limited to 190 km/h. Unfortunately, the economical and clean diesel engine of the previous model has not been replaced. (aum)
