The Kia Sorento will recognize fingerprints in the future

Kia is launching the freshly revised Sorento on the market next year with a sharper look and an interior upgrade. New features include the hood and the new vertically aligned headlights. There is also a new daytime running light signature, the design of which is taken up at the rear with diagonally aligned tail lights. The radiator grille has also been refined with a three-dimensional structure. The rear bumper with striking underride guard has also been revised.

The dashboard and center console also have a new design. The steering wheel can now be adjusted electrically. Below the larger touchscreen, a new multi-mode control unit with two rotary knobs and a series of sensor buttons provides direct access to the most important infotainment and climate control functions. The controls and buttons are dual-mode and can be switched from infotainment to climate control and vice versa at the touch of a finger. New features include front reclining seats with a comfortable reclining position and a massage function for the driver's seat. With the new interior variant in the color Sage Green, Kia is using a sustainable leather alternative and plastic made from recycled PET for the seats of the Sorento for the first time.

The new technologies include fingerprint recognition. This can be used to activate the driver's individual profile and start the vehicle. In future, the smartphone can be used as a vehicle key in the Sorento.

The new Highway Assist 2.0 can independently change lanes above a certain speed as soon as the driver indicates in the corresponding direction. In addition to the turn-off function, the front collision warning system now also has cross-traffic detection and initiates evasive maneuvers if necessary and possible. The system now also prevents collisions with vehicles ahead or oncoming vehicles in the adjacent lane. The optimized all-round view camera now displays a 3D image.

There is still a choice of the standard all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid as the top engine, as well as the full hybrid and the 2.2-liter diesel, each of which is available as an all-wheel-drive or front-wheel-drive model. The diesel has an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the two hybrid variants have a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel version of the revised Sorento will be available to order from January, the two hybrid models will follow in the course of the first quarter. (aum)
