Suzuki presents the new Swift in April 2024

For almost 40 years, Suzuki has sold over nine million units of the Swift worldwide. Now the seventh generation is being announced. From April 2024, the new representative of the B-segment will also make its debut in Germany as a consistent further development of its successful predecessors. Prices and equipment variants have not yet been set.

Daniel Schnell, Deputy Managing Director at Suzuki Germany, sees the new edition of the Suzuki Swift as "a clear commitment to the B-segment, from which many other manufacturers have already withdrawn". Schnell sees a great demand for high-quality and modern small cars.

In the comfortable interior of the Swift, all controls are arranged around the driver. For the first time, the Suzuki Swift has a new high-resolution nine-inch touchscreen. The trunk has a total load volume of 265 liters (according to the VDA, excluding the compartment under the load floor). The loading sill is eleven millimeters lower than in the sixth generation. This means that the loading sill has been lowered to 705 millimetres to make loading and unloading easier.

Under the hood of the new Swift is a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with dual-jet injection and 61kW/83PS. Power is transmitted either via a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable CVT automatic transmission. The engine is supported by a 12-volt SHVS mild hybrid system with a belt-driven integrated starter generator (ISG). An automatic all-wheel drive system on the list of extras.

The new Swift complies with the next stage of the General Safety Regulation (GSR), which comes into force in July 2024, and therefore features advanced safety and assistance systems. With the data communication module (DCM), the driver is able to control and use practical functions directly via the smartphone. (aum)
