Skoda also asks ChatGPT in case of doubt

Following on from the VW Group brand, Skoda has now also announced that it will integrate ChatGPT into the backend of the infotainment system. Artificial intelligence gives vehicle users access to significantly more information. Skoda is introducing the chatbot as part of the latest generation of infotainment systems, which are expected to be available from the middle of this year. The AI will initially be available for certain versions of the Enyaq, the new model years of the Superb and Kodiaq as well as the upgraded Octavia.

The integration of ChatGPT into the Laura voice assistant opens up a wide range of new possibilities for voice control. For example, drivers can use Laura to control infotainment, navigation and air conditioning and have general knowledge questions answered. In the future, artificial intelligence will offer a significantly larger portfolio of answers to complex questions, which is also constantly growing. For example, ChatGPT can answer questions that arise during a journey or retrieve specific vehicle information and much more.

The new function can be activated via the voice assistant with a simple "Okay, Laura" or via the steering wheel button. If the infotainment system cannot find an answer to a question, ChatGPT automatically steps in. According to the manufacturer, the AI has no access to vehicle information or personal data. All interactions are then deleted to ensure maximum data protection.

The new function is based on the Cerene Chat Pro software from technology partner Cerene and will also be used in other Volkswagen Group brands. (aum)
