The most powerful three-cylinder gets another 19 hp more
With the revision of the Yaris series, Toyota is also updating the GR, of which over 18,000 have been sold in the past three years. The already most powerful three-cylinder on the market has been given a further 19 hp and 30 Newton meters more torque: 280 hp (206 kW) and 390 Nm. The new eight-speed direct-shift gearbox as an alternative to the manual gearbox, which is still available, enables even faster gear changes. The shift direction has been selected so that the lever is moved forwards for downshifts and backwards for upshifts.
The chassis of the small four-meter-long all-wheel-drive sports car has been further strengthened. The once optional performance radiator package, which includes an additional radiator, an intercooler spray and a modified air intake, is now standard.
The cockpit center console has been rotated by 15 degrees towards the driver, who now also sits slightly lower. To improve visibility, the upper edge of the instrument panel has been lowered by five centimetres and the position of the rear-view mirror has been changed. The new fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster offers the two layout modes Normal and Sport, the latter with race-specific elements.
The exterior of the Toyota GR Yaris has also undergone some changes. The lower radiator grille at the front of the vehicle has a new steel grille, the side radiator grille has a larger opening and the lower bumper has a new, split design that makes repairs and replacements easier and more cost-effective. At the rear, the air flowing under the vehicle floor can escape through a new opening at the lower edge of the lower trim. This reduces air resistance, improves the maneuverability and stability of the vehicle and dissipates heat from the exhaust system. The fog lights and reversing lights have been repositioned to reduce the risk of damage. The upper brake light has been relocated from the rear spoiler down to the tailgate so that all rear lights are in a clear line of sight for following drivers. The relocation of the brake light also makes it easier to replace or adjust the spoiler.
In addition to Emotional Red, Precious Black and Super White/Platinum White Pearlescent - the colors of the Gazoo Racing (GR) motorsport division - Toyota is offering the new Previous Metal exterior paint finish.
