Hyundai wants to take off in four years

Air cabs are increasingly being considered as a way of relieving large cities and megacities of car traffic. With its US-based subsidiary Supernal, the Hyundai Group is also active in the field of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). The S-A2, an electrically powered vertical take-off aircraft for four passengers plus pilot, is currently being developed there. It is a so-called e-VTOL (electric vertical take off and landing). The aircraft should be ready for the market in four years and make its first commercial flights.

The S-A2 is designed for a cruising speed of over 190 km/h at an altitude of around 450 meters. It has eight tiltable rotors and is designed for distances of around 40 to 60 kilometers. During take-off and landing, it should be no louder than a dishwasher, and even quieter in flight,

Supernal's development teams worked together with the Hyundai Motor Group's automotive designers on the design of the S-A2. While work is continuing on approval, mass production and extended application possibilities, they are also working on the modularity of the interior and the possibility of replacing the battery at a later date in order to be able to react to technological advances.
