SUV forefather goes electric

The smallest is followed by the largest. Jeep has announced the market launch of the new Wagoneer S. Unlike the Avenger, which is also available as a combustion engine, the SUV forefather of yesteryear will become the US brand's first purely battery-electric vehicle (BEV) to be offered worldwide. It will initially be sold in the USA from fall 2024, followed by Europe next year.

However, there is still not much more to see than a few sneaky screenshots from a teaser video. These include a night shot with spectacular LED lighting of the brand-typical seven-strut radiator grille.

Jeep has also only revealed so much about the technical data so far: the approximately five-meter-long SUV Stromer is based on the Stellantis STLA Large platform, which will also be used in future e-models from Alfa Romeo and Maserati. It brings 450 kW/600 hp of power to the road, which should enable acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds. Electric all-wheel drive with all-terrain management comes as standard. (aum)
