Jeep Avenger now also goes over hill and dale

Jeep is adding another drive combination to its Avenger series. Following the versions with all-electric and conventional combustion engines, there is now one with 4xe hybrid technology and electrified all-wheel drive. This means that even the smallest Jeep can once again venture into rough terrain, which the previous front-wheel drive models had to capitulate to. "The new Avenger 4xe completes the brand's range of 4x4 SUVs in all segments," says Jeep Europe boss Eric Laforge.

The electrified drive combines a 136 hp (100 kW) petrol engine with two electric motors, each with an output of 21 kW, which can move both axles and deliver a torque of 190 Nm to the rear wheels. According to Jepp, the so-called "Power Looping" technology guarantees the traction of the all-wheel drive regardless of the battery charge level. The new 48-volt mild hybrid system should also enable fully electric driving at low speeds thanks to the automatic 6-speed dual-clutch transmission e-DCS6 and integrated electric motor. However, orders for the new Jeep Avenger 4xe will not be possible until the end of the year. (aum)
