Audi Q6 e-Tron: It's all about the technology
Audi is launching the Q6 e-Tron on the market in the third quarter. It is the first vehicle in the VW Group to be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and new electronics architecture developed jointly with Porsche. The 100 kWh battery stands for WLTP ranges of up to 625 kilometers. The two rear-wheel drive all-wheel drive models Q6 e-Tron Quattro and SQ6 e-Tron, which have system outputs of 285 kW (387 PS) and 380 kW (517 PS), are available at market launch. Two rear-wheel drive models will be available at a later date.
The Q6 e-Tron Quattro accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the SQ takes over a second and a half less. The top speed is limited to 210 km/h and 230 km/h respectively. Thanks to 800-volt technology and a charging capacity of up to 270 kW, the Q6 e-Tron can ideally recharge in ten minutes for a range of up to 255 kilometers. Bank charging is available for the first time: If a charging station uses 400-volt technology, the 800-volt battery is automatically split into two batteries with the same voltage, which can then be charged in parallel with up to 135 kW. Depending on the state of charge, both battery halves are first equalized and then charged together. The Audi can also recuperate up to 220 kW.
The Q6 e-Tron is 4.77 meters long and 1.94 meters wide. The trunk offers 526 liters to 1529 liters of volume. There is a compartment with a further 64 liters of capacity under the front hood. In addition to the virtual cockpit and the panoramic display in the center, the Audi also has a passenger display. An augmented reality head-up display is also available as an option. The voice assistant with AI support and avatar display recognizes over 800 commands. The Adaptive Driving Assistant Plus also uses high-resolution map data and swarm data from other vehicles calculated in the cloud to improve driving behavior.
Audi is also proud of the world premiere of an "active digital light signature". The rear lights generate a new image every ten milliseconds with a total of 360 segments and with the help of a specially developed algorithm. At the front, the active digital light signature is created by the interaction of the algorithm with twelve segments that dim up and down. For the first time, the OLED rear lights can communicate with the immediate surroundings in a targeted manner (Car-to-X). Audi has also further developed the safety functions. The proximity detection already familiar from other models has been extended in the new Q6 e-Tron to include the communication light. It warns other road users of accidents and breakdowns. To this end, the communication light displays a specific static tail light signature with integrated warning symbols in addition to the regular tail light graphic in the digital OLED combination rearlight in critical driving or traffic situations.
The Audi Q6 e-Tron Quattro is available at prices starting from 74,700 euros. The SQ6 e-Tron is over 19,000 euros more expensive. (aum)
