Fastback SUV with electric thrust

The new Peugeot E-3008 comes onto the market with the silhouette of a so-called SUV coupé, although the marketing department in Paris has rebranded it as a "fastback SUV". Over the past seven years, the series has developed into a successful model, with more than 1.32 million units rolling onto the roads in 130 countries. The new generation uses the new flexible STLA Medium platform, which enables electric ranges of up to more than 700 kilometers, which the all-wheel drive E-3008 following later in the year is expected to achieve.

In contrast to its predecessor, the new E-3008 was developed as an electric vehicle from the outset. Initially, the 157 kW (213 PS) front-wheel drive version and the 170 kW (230 PS) all-wheel drive version will be launched on the market, both of which, according to the WLTP consumption standard, only have to roll up to the charging station after 524 kilometers. The "Long Range" version with all-wheel drive, which will follow later, will then be able to cover the announced 700 kilometers.

The batteries are currently still supplied by BYD, but the E-3008 will be equipped with energy storage units produced in France from the summer. The electric motor and transmission are also "Made in France". "By taking the step towards local production, we want to make ourselves less dependent on potential disruptions in the supply chain," explains a brand spokesperson. (aum)
