Genesis X Speedium Giro: Luxury study for cyclists

It is already the fifth variant in the Genesis X family: the Genesis X Speedium Giro, which celebrated its world premiere at the Car Design Event in Munich's Business & Drivers Club. The series began in March 2021 with the two-door Coupé X Concept, continued in April 2022 with a Shooting Brake called the X Speedium Coupé and in November 2022 with the X Convertible Concept.

In January 2024, a variation of the Speedium called the X Snow Speedium Concept appeared, painted in matt horn white and fitted with winter sports equipment from Anavon. The Genesis X Speedium Giro Concept now on show is based on the Snow Concept, but plays on the theme of "cycling".

Instead of a traditional bike rack, the Giro Concept has a holding device that attaches to the rear spoiler; the racing bike therefore sits significantly lower and further back. This design gives the roof structure a very dynamic appearance, while cargo on the roof normally disturbs the line.

A dazzlingly bright light bar is mounted on the roof, and four additional powerful auxiliary headlights are located in the front apron. The wheel design is much more extravagant compared to the more conventional-looking five-arm rims of the Snow Concept, and there is an additional tail unit on the front wheels to optimize brake cooling. Electric motors provide propulsion.

The Korean luxury brand is keeping mum about the chances of this new Speedium study going into series production. At present, the focus in Europe is on the market launch of the G90 luxury saloon, and the G80 and GV80 models are receiving a facelift; there will be a very sporty version of the electric GV60 called Magma.

From the X family, the X Convertible is considered to have the best chances of a market launch. It is likely to be launched on the market in a small series with electric drive. (aum/jm)
