Hyundai competes with Ioniq 5 N on Pikes Peak

Following the sales launch, the new Ioniq 5 N from Hyundai will be able to prove itself at the 102nd edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. On June 23, two of the 650 hp, all-electric high-performance models aim to break the record in the category of standard SUV and crossover vehicles with electric drive. Both vehicles are part of a group of four vehicles with which the South Korean manufacturer will be competing in the legendary hill climb in Colorado on the 4302-metre-high Pikes Peak.

The chances of this are good. The Ioniq 5 N was tested in exceptional temperatures and extreme environments and was specially developed and tuned on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Thanks to the demanding testing process for the standard version, only minor adjustments had to be made to the vehicles used at Pikes Peak in order to comply with current safety regulations. For example, the driver's seat was replaced with a Recaro racer seat and the rear seat was removed in favor of a roll cage and an automatic fire extinguishing system.

There are no other modifications: The Ioniq 5 N competing at Pikes Peak is a standard Ioniq 5 N. Only the color will change before the race: The red paintwork is to make way for a new, eye-catching livery that you can't miss. (aum)
