IAA Mobility: ZF accelerates market launch of by-wire technologies

At the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, ZF plans to make its range of by-wire technologies the focus of its trade show presence. The technology group now offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of purely electronically controlled steering systems, brakes, or dampers for software-defined vehicles. These chassis systems no longer require mechanical connections or system fluids. Also on display will be a future ultra-compact and lightweight 800-volt powertrain with unprecedented torque density.

"Networked chassis systems for longitudinal, lateral and vertical dynamics can improve driving dynamics," says Peter Holdmann, head of ZF's Car Chassis Technology division, "and ZF is uniquely positioned with its range of actuators and functions for combining all three dimensions of driving dynamics." Purely electronically controlled and networked by-wire systems offer better vehicle control, shorter braking distances, more steering flexibility, greater driving stability at high speeds, and increased range and efficiency.

In addition, ZF had already presented the modular 800-volt EVSys800 drive at the end of June as an outlook for the IAA Mobility 2023, which consists of silicon carbide power electronics, the e-motor and a reduction gearbox. Despite its compact design and light weight, it is not stingy in terms of performance in the EVbeat concept vehicle: For example, maximum torque of an incredible 5200 newton meters is available at the rear axle. The continuous and peak output of the electric motor are 206 and 275 kilowatts respectively. (aum)
