At the finale of the Super Motocross World Championship in Los Angeles, Triumph presented its first motocross model to the public for the first time. Fireworks and fanfare provided the appropriate show effect. The two 250s were driven by legendary riders Ricky Carmichael and Jeff Stanton.
Former motocross star Jeff "Six Time" Stanton
returned to Memorial Coliseum to the site where he won his sixth and final championship in 1992. He is currently manager of the Triumph Adventure Experience in the USA. The second bike was a one-off Special Edition with non-production components, designed and ridden by Ricky Carmichael. Carmichael is a brand ambassador and for many fans also the GOAT (Greatest Of All Times) of motocross sport.
The machine will be presented in more detail in eight weeks. Triumph Racing will initially enter the American Supercross World Championship series next year with three of the 250-cubic four-stroke machines it has developed, with participation in the 450-SMX class then planned for 2025. There are analogous plans for the Motocross World Championship (MXGP). (aum)
