Skoda returns to Kazakhstan

Skoda Auto is about to re-enter the Kazakh market. The Czech automaker is now relying on a new sales and production partner in the form of Allur Company. Both companies recently signed a cooperation agreement. Four Skoda model series are to be assembled in Kazakhstan as early as the beginning of 2024.

Klaus Zellmer, Skoda Auto CEO, sees the company thus returning to a market with promising potential, where currently less than a fifth of the country's inhabitants own a car. Martin Jahn, Skoda Auto board member for sales and marketing, announced plans to open 15 showrooms in major Kazakh cities in the coming year. In addition to the Octavoa, the Kodiaq, Kamiq and Karoq SUV series are also to be offered.

Skoda Auto was already active on the Kazakh market between 2005 and 2021, delivering over 23,000 vehicles there during that time. Starting next year, vehicles prepared at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav will be assembled for the Kazakh market at the Allur Company plant in Kostanay and delivered to local dealers. (aum)
