Norway forges ahead with climate protection

The Norwegian parliament is tightening the target of the National Transport Plan. Following the ban on combustion engines for newly registered cars in 2025, diesel-powered trucks will now be banned. From 2030, only heavy commercial vehicles with electric or biogas drives will be allowed to be newly registered. This has now been agreed by the Norwegian parliament, as reported today by the industry information service "eurotransport.de"

The old target from the National Transport Plan stipulated that 50 percent of trucks should be emission-free by 2030. The Norwegian Environmental Protection Agency has issued a technical recommendation that this target is outdated and should be increased. Money for the changeover is available from the Norwegian environmental funding agency Enova. (aum)
