Skoda fifth strongest brand in Germany

Skoda has grown faster than the overall market in Germany this year. With an increase in registrations of 17 percent and 154,209 vehicles sold in the first eleven months, the company increased its market share to 5.9 percent. Behind VW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW, the Volkswagen subsidiary moved up one place to fifth. Skoda was the strongest import brand for the 15th time in a row and also produced the most successful electric car in the past two months with the Enyaq.

According to Jan-Hendrik Hülsmann, CEO of Skoda Germany, the lead over the nearest competitor is around 22,000 units. The Octavia remains the most popular model series. The following models, led by the Kodiaq, are close together in terms of registration figures. More than every eighth Skoda is an Enyaq.

The management remains optimistic for the new year. With the fourth generation of the Superb and the second edition of the Kodiaq, two important models have recently had their world premiere. Both offer more space than their predecessors, have an enhanced design and will also be available with plug-in hybrid drive and an electric range of more than 100 kilometers. Among the many innovations in the interior are the Smart Dials, multifunctional dials with a digital display. The Enyaq, Scala and Kamiq have been or will be revised and upgraded for 2024, the Octavia will also receive a facelift and a completely new model, the compact electric SUV Elroq, will be launched in the second half of the year.

This year, Skoda Germany was once again a partner of the "Tour of Hope" cycling tour against cancer in children and also collected money for this at the Federal President's citizens' festival in the park of Bellevue Palace in Berlin. As a contribution to the promotion of young engineers, the company also supported the DART Racing Team of TU Darmstadt in the Formula Student for the first time. In this international competition, students compete against each other in self-constructed, electrically powered formula racers. Skoda itself celebrated a success in motorsport with Marijan Griebel's title win in the German Rally Championship in the Fabia RS Rally 2. (aum)
