Skoda Epiq to facilitate entry into e-mobility

The discussion about more cost-effective electric cars from volume manufacturers continues: Skoda presented the 4.10-meter-long Epiq study at its annual press conference today, which is set to become a series model next year for around 25,000 euros. The new Skoda with its fashionable SUV look is said to offer a range of over 400 kilometers and up to 490 liters of trunk space. The controls in the cockpit have been reduced to a minimum, but there will still be physical buttons and haptic dials. The use of sustainable materials in the interior will be increased. The Skoda Epiq will also be designed for bidirectional charging. The compact all-electric Elroq will be launched later this year.

Skoda increased its deliveries last year by 18.5 percent to 866,800 vehicles. Turnover grew by more than a quarter to 26.5 billion euros, while profits almost tripled to 1.8 billion euros. With a return of 6.7 percent, the Czechs were the most profitable volume brand in the Volkswagen Group.

In India, where Skoda has the lead for VW, sales of regional models have more than doubled in the past two years. The expansion in Asia is to be continued from there. Last year, the brand celebrated its market entry into Vietnam and the small state of Brunei. Skoda also returned to Kazakhstan. (aum)
