VW starts advance sales for the new Transporter

Although it will not be launched on the market until 2025, Volkswagen is already launching pre-sales for the new Transporter tomorrow. The successor to the T6.1 and Caravelle 6.1 will also be available as a plug-in hybrid and electric version as an alternative to the diesel. The cockpit will be digital, there will be a central 13-inch touchscreen and the number of assistance systems will increase noticeably.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will offer the new Transporter as a panel van (rear compartment without windows), panel van Plus (with second row of seats), panel van with L-shaped partition, as an estate (rear compartment with windows) and as a long flatbed van with crew cab, as well as a Caravelle (interior trim) at a later date. The estate and panel van models will also be optionally available with a high roof and an extended wheelbase, whereby the high roof can now also be combined with the shorter wheelbase. Like their predecessors, the new Transporter models can also be ordered with either a tailgate or gullwing doors.

At 5.05 meters, the new Transporter is almost 15 centimetres longer than the T 6.1 and has a longer wheelbase. It is also almost 13 centimeters wider. Transport volume, payload and towing capacity are all increased. The long version measures 5.45 meters and has a wheelbase of 3.50 meters (instead of 3.10 m). meters.

Pre-sales start with the turbo diesel engines for vehicles with commercial vehicle approval (N1) - i.e. panel van, panel van Plus, panel van with L-shaped partition and crew cab. The power variants 110 POS (81 kW), 150 PS (110 kW) and 170 PS (125 kW) are available. This will be followed by a plug-in hybrid with 233 hp (210 kW) system output and four electric drives with 85 kW (116 hp), 100 kW (136 hp), 160 kW (218 hp) and 210 kW (286 hp). The batteries of the e-models will have an energy content (gross) of 83 kWh; the basic version with the 85 kW e-machine will be offered with a 54 kWh battery (gross). The TDI and e-Hybrid models are front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an option for the TDI versions from 110 kW. The purely electric models have rear-wheel drive, with a 4-Motion version planned for later.

The new VW Transporter can be configured with the 110 hp entry-level engine at prices starting from €36,780 (net) if ordered early in the first few months. (aum)
