Chery ranks first among Chinese manufacturers when it comes to the quality of new cars. This is according to the recently published China Initial Quality Study by J.D. Power. In a further study on customer satisfaction, the Anhui-based car manufacturer also dominates high-volume segments in the mid-size class with two models from its Tiggo brand.
The awards come just a few months before Chery's planned market launch in Europe and Germany with the Omoda and Jaecoo sub-brands. The company has already been present for five years with a development center in Raunheim near Frankfurt and is initially launching the B-segment crossover Omoda 5 as a combustion engine and electric car on the German market. The sister model Jaecoo 7 followed shortly afterwards.
The results of the study are based on feedback from around 34,650 new car customers in China on construction-related problems, defects and malfunctions in their vehicles. They include 230 models from 48 brands. (aum)
