Slim and trim for the new year

Slim and sleek into the new year - this is the resolution with which the Triumph Tiger 900 is starting the 2024 season. The British company will be launching three model variants in the future: the basic Tiger 900 GT model, the higher-quality GT Pro and, on top, the robust Rally Pro with real off-road ambitions. Prices start at 13,595 euros.

"More power, more capabilities, more comfort for touring and an aggressive appearance," is how Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer at Triumph, praises the new Tiger 900. All three Tigers have the same engine: the revised three-cylinder now delivers 108 hp at 9500 rpm, plus 90 Newton meters at 6850 rpm. That is 13 hp and three Nm more than the previous model. In addition to performance (plus 13 percent), efficiency has also been increased: up to nine percent less fuel now rushes through the injection system. The revised triple is wonderfully direct on the throttle and impresses with its wide rev range. The official fuel consumption of the 888 cc engine is a reasonable 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

The Tiger remains a prime example of the usefulness of three-cylinder engines: powerful acceleration in the lower rev range, high elasticity at high revs - a successful mix of two and four cylinders. The way in which this is achieved on the Tiger 900 is a prime example of the usefulness of three-cylinder engines: powerful acceleration at low revs, high elasticity at high revs - a successful mix of two and four cylinders. Shift lazy drivers can comfortably chug around bends in fourth, fifth or sixth gear, or cruise through the city.

Whether you prefer to ride on the road or turn off-road - Tiger enthusiasts should make this fundamental decision before buying. If you prefer asphalt, you can choose the Tiger 900 GT Pro with a clear conscience. It is the more accessible bike.

The Tiger's turn-in behavior and directional stability are impeccable. It takes fast and even technical bends with flying colors. It goes straight ahead brilliantly, the riding position is excellent, all the controls feel like they are where they belong. The front indicators now function as permanent marker lights. This improves the bike's visibility.

The new TFT display comes from the big sister Tiger 1200. The seven-inch screen is hard to beat in terms of simplicity and clarity when riding. The shift assistant, which Triumph has fitted to the Pro models as standard, also does an absolutely perfect job. Gear changes without the clutch work brilliantly from around 2000 rpm; not every manufacturer manages this so smoothly.
