Mercedes-Benz: Passenger cars at previous year's level and vans at record level

Mercedes-Benz sold 2,045,800 passenger cars and 447,800 vans last year. This is 1.5 percent more vehicles than in 2022, but the growth is almost exclusively attributable to the van division, which achieved its best annual result to date. In the passenger car segment, Mercedes only sold 3100 more cars than in the previous year. In the German domestic market, sales increased by nine percent with 234,400 new registrations, and by seven percent across Europe. In the important markets of the USA and China, the brand remained almost at the previous year's level with declines of one to two percent. In the other international markets, sales fell by a total of nine percent.

The van division grew by eight percent in Europe and by 13 percent in North America to a total of 279,400 vehicles. The USA thus became the second largest market for the brand worldwide. The Sprinter accounted for just over half of all sales. The medium-sized Vito and V-Class series accounted for just under 179,000 units. The small vans (Citan and T-Class) accounted for 31,500 units.
