Ineos presents third model Fusilier

Following the announcement of a zero-emission model series in May 2022, Ineos Automotive has now presented the new Ineos Fusilier off-road vehicle - at least online. It is said to have first-class off-road capability without sacrificing comfort on the road and offer both a battery-electric and a low-emission drive option with a small petrol engine as a range extender. Details of the alternative drive system and the market launch schedule are to be announced in fall 2024.

"During development, we quickly came to the conclusion that we need a mix of technologies to promote decarbonization while providing vehicles that are in demand," said Ineos CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe at the launch in London "BEVs are perfect for shorter journeys and delivery services in urban environments. However, industry and policy makers must also have realistic expectations of other technologies that can help accelerate the necessary pace of change."

The Ineos Fusilier is being developed together with the supplier Magna, which will also manufacture the vehicle in Graz, Austria. It is based on the Grenadier, but will be slightly shorter and lower and stand on a so-called skateboard platform with a steel body and underbody as well as aluminum doors and cladding panels. Ineos had already worked with Magna on the development of the Grenadier Station Wagon and the Quartermaster pick-up. (aum/av)
