Car show in transition

The world of classic car shows is changing. The Geneva Motor Show, for example, has lost much of its former appeal, as have the German IAA and the Paris Motor Show. The major European vehicle exhibitions are suffering from a decline in exhibitors and visitors. Nevertheless, around 200,000 visitors are expected in Geneva by March 3. Europe's "Car of the Year 2024" was announced today at the start of the show: the Renault Scénic E-Tech. And with the new R 5, the French have brought one of the highlights to Lake Geneva, where Chinese manufacturers in particular are dominating the picture at the motor show. MG is not only presenting two new models, but also a new brand. BYD and Shenzer as well as Lucid from the USA are other exhibitors. (aum)
